Building Trust and Developing Integrity in Your Leaders and Teams
Studies indicate that the quality with the greatest gap between what followers most want in their leaders and what they actually receive is trust or trustworthiness. Over half of all managers do not trust their leaders. We call this The Trust Gap. Being rather than the leader's doing creates the most frequent issues of broken trust. This being gap can risk both the leader's competencies and the organization's health. Bill Thrall and Bruce McNicol, along with Dale Gifford, will offer a process and tools for building trust and developing integrity in your leaders and teams.
Opening the "inner black box" of the Leaders and Managers Under Your Care
In 2001, Jim Collins identified the two essential leadership qualities of the Level 5 Leader as humility and professional will. He called these qualities the "black box" of the great leader, and further stated that inside this black box is yes another prized black box that teaches us how to develop a Level Five Leader. But, Collins claimed that we do not know how to open this smaller black box. Two years earlier, Bill Thrall and Bruce McNicol wrote in The Ascent of a Leader that humility was the starting block of God's fifth rung leader. Now you can join Bill, Bruce and Dale to actually learn a process that God uses for opening the "inner black box" of the leaders and managers under your care.

Dale Gifford began at Hewitt Associates upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin. He rose to the role of CEO in this Forbes 250 company, only the third CEO in 60 years, and later became Chair. During Dale’s years as CEO, the company grew from 2,400 employees to over 14,000 and enjoyed a 15-20% growth per year. In the early 2000’s, Dale supervised complex growth transition of Hewitt to a publicly traded company. In the early 90s, Dale served with his usual distinction on the board of directors of Interest Ministries, based in Chicago, where Bruce McNicol was president. By training, Dale is an actuary, and brings competent analysis skills blended with an optimistic, collaborative approach to board leadership. While on the board of Leadership Catalyst for six years, Dale exemplified Leadership Catalyst’s leadership principles in directing Hewitt Associates. This is confirmed in many ways, including the fact that Hewitt was voted among the top 100 companies to work for so many times that Forbes ultimately requested that Hewitt not compete, but rather become one of the judges for the top 100 companies. Dale serves on a number of church and other non-profit profit boards, most specifically on the Catalyst Group, a non-profit in the Gifford’s home-county focused on bringing churches together.
Dale is married to Becky and they have three children. One of his favorite pastimes is having the whole family together in their Woodlands, Texas home. Dale enjoys golfing, travel, and reading.
Leadership Catalyst is an organization which has created a modular, systematic approach to forming and reproducing high-trust leaders and cultures.
