Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX — Any true golf devotee will tell you that there is never a bad reason to hit the greens. When the opportunity arises to combine the love of the game with the support of a worthy cause, who can resist? Mark your calendars now for the 16th Annual GPA Invitational Golf Tournament scheduled for Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the Mystic Dunes Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Each year the tournament is held in conjunction with the CBA International Christian Retail Show to raise needed funds for Global Publishers Alliance (GPA). The funds enable Christian publishers in developing countries to become self-sustaining producers of Christian books in their own languages and cultural contexts.

This year’s much sought-after venue has attracted the notice of several trend makers within the world of golf. Recent accolades include:

  • Rated 4-Stars by Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” - 2004-2006
  • Ranked #2 “Orlando’s Top 5 Golf Courses” - TravelGolf.com Editors and Writers
  • Host site of the 2005 Buick Scramble National Championships
  • Ranked GolfWeek’s “Top 100 Resort Courses in the United States” - 2007
Tournament participants will compete for a variety of prizes and awards. This event also offers many great sponsorship opportunities for companies who desire to present their services to a great group of industry colleagues. Additionally, sponsorship allows companies both to publicly demonstrate their support and to increase their financial backing of GPA efforts.

The annual tournament is key to the fulfillment of several GPA initiatives. “In 2007, we raised over $50,000 which helped move several important projects ahead in the Arab speaking world, in China, and in Ukraine. In addition, we are considering the expansion of the GPA work in Africa and India,” says Jack Countryman, chair of this year’s tournament. “In every case, GPA initiatives result in the development of leaders committed to the sustainable growth of Christian publishing in regions and languages of great need. In 2008, we hope to increase our level of giving. With the help of tournament participants, the goal of spreading God’s Word to all nations will be achieved!”

Registration is now open … but hurry! Space is limited and will fill up fast! The tournament will accommodate a maximum of 128 players. Participants may register their own foursomes, or the tournament coordinators will gladly assign individuals to a team. The shotgun start is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM. Online registration is available at www.globalpublishers.org. Interested parties may also contact the GPA office to request a paper registration form via phone (480-966-3988 ext. 220), fax (480-966-1944), or email at events@ecpa.org.
