Session 3 Editors and the Changing Face of Publishing How to Win Sales and Influence Marketing (Yes, it CAN be done!)
What does it mean to be an editor in today’s publishing world? Is it enough to have finely honed acquisitions instincts, proven editing chops, excellent copyediting expertise, or eagle-eye proofreading skills? In a word: No!
Handing off the manuscript is when the hardest work begins: creating an enthusiastic and supportive in-house team. So how can editors do that? How can they communicate vision and passion to sales? How can they work with marketing to provide that promising author with a killer plan for success?
Let two publishing pros from the wonderful worlds of sales and marketing guide and equip you to do what too many editors have thought impossible: win sales and marketing over to your side.
In this interactive workshop, we’ll consider:
The editor’s primary customer
Concentric Circles of Concern and How to Deal with Them
Overcoming Sales & Marketing Obstacles
Creating Proposals that Speak to Sales and Marketing
The Importance of Focus in Content (ABA or CBA appeal)
Author Involvement: When it’s a good thing, when it isn’t.
…and much more! So come join us for a session that may forever change your understanding of an editor’s role within the publishing house.
