Pubnet / EDI
ECPA has provided an EDI solution to the industry through Pubnet. Pubnet is a leading publishing industry e-commerce exchange, allowing more than 3,000 distributors, bookstores and other retailers to place electronic orders (POs), and receive purchase order acknowledgements (POAs), invoices, and advance shipping notices (ASNs) using standardized electronic documents. This electronic supply chain system streamlines the labor-intensive ordering process that increases efficiency and lowers ordering costs. Pubnet already serves the U.S. trade and higher education markets and is the official EDI provider in the Canadian market.
Pubnet integrates seamlessly with a retailer's POS system and also offers web-based ordering solutions for those without POS capabilities. Publishers and all vendors can set up to receive orders via a Pubnet electronic mailbox, and there is a web-based forms interface, Pubnet Order Wizard (POW), available for small vendors without in-house EDI capabilities. Additionally, the service provides a robust order visibility and management toolset for both vendors and retailers, named DCTS, to allow users a total 360 view of their electronic orders.
ECPA and Bowker have partnered together to supply Christian Retailers with the Pubnet EDI Services, replacing the current Xnet service.
