Not every part of publishing is flat or shrinking. There is growth and great potential in many digital formats, including audio books. In this session, Dan and Cory will discuss the potential of various digital mediums including audio books specifically, the digital “tipping point” in the variety of formats, and the unique opportunities in this market, including a lesson from the ABA sub rights market.
Biography
Dan Balow (left) is publisher at Oasis Audio where he started in Fall 2006 after 14 years with Tyndale House Publishers. At Tyndale, he held positions in marketing, sales and international rights and licensing. Prior to Tyndale, Dan work nine years for The Domain Group marketing agency, holding positions of senior account executive and director of media strategy.
Dan is member of the board for both the Christy Awards and the Global Publishers Alliance.
He is a graduate of Wheaton College (IL) with a degree in Communications. He and his wife Carol make their home in Wheaton, Illinois. They have four children, the youngest still in high school.
Cory Verner (right) is the Cofounder of christianaudio, a California based publisher of audiobooks and owner of christianaudio.com, a leading content provider of downloadable spoken word content. Prior to starting christianaudio, Cory worked for a leading provider of hosted eCommerce solutions managing key accounts and programs and implementing over 50 commerce projects for enterprise clients like HP/Compaq, Sony, and Hyundai Motors. Cory lives with his wife, Crissy and two sons, Levi and Luke in San Marcos California.
