"We have some of the leading marketing and PR voices in the
marketplace sharing on topics about marketing, social media, email
marketing, and publicity. We will have sessions that will help anyone in the industry, whether you’re a
seasoned veteran or a rookie to the publishing industry. My goal is to create content that is pushing the envelope for even
people that have been in the industry 10+ years and also for people that
are brand new (1-2 years). We will also include session, TEDx style, with a number of short presentations about

SESSION SPEAKERS Justin Wise
"Justin is a digital marketing guru who is doing some incredible things with direct to consumer
marketing that I think our industry can learn from." -- Chad Cannon
Justin is focused on showing businesses, organizations, and individuals how to get results from their social media content. As the CEO/Founder of the Wise Group, Justin created Think Digital Academy, a social media coaching program designed to help participants build bigger online audiences and influence them to take action. He speaks on the topic of social media strategy at national conferences such as the NRB Research Symposium, CLA Internet & Ministry Technology Summit, and the Nonprofit Leadership Academy. Justin is also a KAIROS continuing education faculty member at Luther Seminary. Prior to that, Justin received his Master of Divinity from Bethel Seminary while working at the largest Lutheran church in the country, Lutheran Church of Hope. He has served as the Executive Director for the Center for Church Communication and teaches public relations as an adjunct professor at Drake University. Shanon Stowe is President of the Literary Division of Icon Media Group. She has 15 years of experience in publishing and has launched more than 30 New York Times bestselling books. Her most recent time was spent as Director of Publicity for Hachette Book Group. During those five and a half years, Stowe worked on more than 200 book releases and orchestrated national media campaigns and book tours for authors including Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Bill Cosby, Nelson DeMille, Bret Baier, Michael Bolton and Wm. Paul Young.

of publicity, she has worked on national media campaigns for some of the imprint’s top authors, including Jefferson Bethke, Lysa TerKeurst, Sheila Walsh, and Matthew Barnett.
Prior to moving to Nashville, Emily lived in the hubbub of Washington
DC, where she navigated the wild world of political communications and
got a Master’s in PR/Corporate Communications. Undercover-nerd and
wannabe-adventurer, Emily spent her early post-college
years teaching English and art in Nicaragua and working with families
adopting kiddos from Africa.

Ryan Frederick is the Principal and Creative Director of emg, a full service web and experiential marketing agency based in Southern California. Since 2009 he has worked alongside publishers, non-profits, startups, and multinational brands to advance their brands and goals in unconventional ways. Aside from emg, Ryan invests his time blogging about marriage and developing experimental business models.
Joel Widmer"Joel is a systems and process machine. He’ll teach you how to take some
of your best ideas and build a replicable system to create long tail

Joel Widmer is a digital marketing strategist who helps businesses make their marketing outcomes more predictable. He’s the founder of Fluxe Digital Marketing, a marketing shop that specializes in content marketing strategy and training for businesses and authors. He has worked with many of the top publishers helping authors create and execute digital marketing campaigns for book launches. He also enjoys longboarding and is on a search for the perfect hamburger.
Caleb Rexius is a
filmmaker focused on the creation of promotional multimedia content for a
handful of industries, including book publishing. Since the inception
of his business in 2010, he has produced over
300 book trailers for numerous publishers and authors, including Karen
Kingsbury, Donald Miller, Lysa Terkeurst, John Grisham and many others.
He lives in Eugene, Oregon with his wife, Betsie, and 2-year-old son,
Eli. You can see his work at
Keith J. Finnegan is the Senior Director of Digital Marketing at Zondervan Trade. He brings a wealth of experience in both the for-profit and nonprofit
sectors, including eleven years with a multi-national software company.
He has over ten years of digital marketing experience, most of it in
publishing, including the areas of content
marketing, eCommerce, website and app development, CRM, social media,
and email. In 2007 he won a prestigious email marketing award. He is a
graduate of Cornerstone University, where he majored in business and
minored in Greek, and earned his MBA from Western
Michigan University in 2004. Keith lives in Grand Rapids, MI, with his
amazing wife Linda. They have two adult daughters, both of whom make
them proud. He enjoys teaching, weight lifting, and the outdoors.
Chad Cannon joined the Nelson Books team in early 2012.
He leads the marketing and publicity teams to maximize sales for our
publishing program. He has put together innovative marketing campaigns
for numerous national bestselling books, including Jesus Is ____ by Judah Smith, Platform by Michael Hyatt, Seven Men by Eric Metaxas, Love Does by Bob Goff, and Jesus > Religion
by Jefferson Bethke. Prior to Nelson Books, Chad served as VP of sales
and marketing for Outreach, the world’s largest provider of church
outreach products and services.
