ECPA Offers Exclusive Media Insurance Program for Members
Coverage Includes All Major Risk Areas Plus Risk Management

03/14/2008, -- PHOENIX, AZ -- The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) announces an exclusive insurance program for its member publishers through the Ministry Risk Management division of Six & Geving, a Colorado-based commercial insurance brokerage. Tailored specifically for ECPA publishers, this insurance program covers major risk areas in the emerging media market, such as media, cyber technology and professional publishing liability coverage. Six & Geving is also providing a risk management assessment for media content and Internet-related exposures.

For more than five years, Six & Geving has provided comprehensive traditional insurance coverage at a discount for ECPA members. Areas offered include Property & Liability, Auto Insurance, Workers’ Compensation, Umbrella coverage, Errors & Omissions, Director’s & Officer’s liability and International coverage.

“Publishers face many forms of legal and financial exposure,” says Brian Flagler, publishing counsel to ECPA. “Tailored insurance solutions can be effective tools to help manage these risks. As communication technologies change, publishers are wise to evaluate whether their insurance policies are up-to-update. Rob Paris and the team at Ministry Risk Management help publishers navigate this ever-shifting environment.”

The ECPA insurance program offers many unique benefits to interested members. One of the unique elements of the program is the synergy with the ECPA Publishers Legal Hotline, an existing ECPA program that helps subscribing publishers avoid claims of libel, invasion of privacy, copyright or trademark infringement. Another unique element of the insurance program is its customization to ECPA. Six & Geving built this program for ECPA members based on historical data from nearly half of the ECPA membership. This historical data allowed Six & Geving to negotiate more attractive pricing packages as well.

“We knew publishers would appreciate this level expertise at the most competitive price,” says ECPA President Mark Kuyper. “Six & Geving was able to negotiate extremely competitive pricing that should be better than what most of our publishers have today. And if they participate in the ECPA Publishers Legal Hotline they can save even more. Insurance companies know if you have this kind of service, it makes it easier to just pick up a phone and get advice on a legal issue before you make a decision…all in an effort to protect from future litigation.”

“We have a simple mission within our publishing insurance partnership,” says Rob Paris, Executive Director of the Ministry Division of Six & Geving. “This program exists to serve Christian publishers by providing dependable insurance and risk management services.”

Six & Geving Insurance, started in 1990, gives coverage to more than 3000 businesses including 500 Christian organizations nationally. Endorsed by both ECPA and CBA, Six & Geving has a complete insurance program designed for all those in the ministry media supply chain—publishers, printers, distributors, retail stores and others. Today, Six & Geving is the largest locally owned commercial insurance agency in Colorado Springs, CO.
