ECPA Recognizes 21 Books for Outstanding Sales Achievement
05/04/2008, Dallas, Texas -- The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) has recognized 21 books for outstanding sales achievement during the 2008 ECPA Executive Leadership Summit on Sunday, May 4th, 2008 in Dallas, Texas. Established in 1990 by ECPA, the Gold and Platinum Book Awards recognize outstanding sales achievement of quality Christian literature.
Nine books, selling more than 1,000,000 copies in all sales channels, were recognized with the ECPA Platinum Book Award:
- The Case for Easter by Lee Strobel (Zondervan)
- The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey (Zondervan)
- The Legend of the Candy Cane by Lori Walburg (Zondervan)
- The Message™ REMIX by Eugene Peterson (NavPress)
- The NIrV Read With Me Bible (Zondervan)
- Once Upon a Summer by Janette Oke (Bethany House/ Baker Publishing Group)
- The Shunning by Beverly Lewis (Bethany House/ Baker Publishing Group)
- Starting Your Day Right by Joyce Meyer (FaithWords)
- What’s So Amazing About Grace by Philip Yancey (Zondervan)
Twelve books were recognized for selling more than 500,000 copies and received the
ECPA Gold Book Award:

- The Case for a Creator by Lee Strobel (Zondervan)

“Selling more than a half of a million copies of a book is astounding,” says Mark Kuyper, President of ECPA. “This is an occasion to celebrate the significant success each of these books, authors and publishers have had in the marketplace.”
In addition to the ECPA Gold and Platinum Book Awards, ECPA introduced the Diamond Award (sales of 10 million copies) in 2005. Nearly 300 books have been awarded an ECPA Gold Book Award, and nearly 200 books have been awarded an ECPA Platinum Book Award. There has been only one Double Diamond Award winner since the inception of the new sales categories in 2005.
