Lake Mary, Fla.—June 18, 2009—Christian retailers have chosen the finalists in the 2009 Retailers Choice Awards, sponsored by Christian Retailing magazine. The finalists among the 250-plus products nominated in 30 categories are listed below and online at www.retailerschoiceawards.com.
Winners will be announced during the International Christian Retail Show in Denver. A press conference will be held in room 607 at the Colorado Convention Center on Monday, July 13, at 11 a.m. Retailers who voted this year have earned the opportunity to win hundreds of dollars worth of the nominated products, and the winners will be announced at the press conference.
The Backlist category—one of three new categories this year—sees four strong titles as finalists. Don Piper’s 90 Minutes in Heaven (Revell/Baker Publishing Group) is competing with Tony Dungy’s Quiet Strength (Tyndale House Publishers), Ron Hall and Denver Moore’s Same Kind of Different As Me (Thomas Nelson) and Stormie Omartian’s The Power of a Praying Wife (Harvest House Publishers).
In General Gift Product, DaySpring has two finalists, the "Colors of Compassion" line of cards and its inspirational mugs, while Kerusso’s finalist is "God’s Girlz" dolls.
Nominated products were judged on the impact they have had on staff and customers, including their ability to speak to hearts and evoke emotion, open minds to new ways of thinking and encourage and affirm Christlike living.
