Phillipsburg, NJ—With total sales of more than 150,000 copies in eight editions since 2005, The Reformation Study Bible, English Standard Version, will now be available in two new editions. P&R Publishing, in conjunction with Ligonier Ministries, announces the upcoming February 8 release of the new editions: a tan imitation leather cover and the hardback edition with a new dust jacket. An extensive retail trade and consumer marketing campaign budgeted at $50,000 is planned for March.  Promotions will include advertising in trade publications, consumer catalog promotion and co-op promotions with retailers.

The popularity of The Reformation Study Bible has generated the publication of a new edition—on average—every eight months since its initial launch, according to Ian Thompson, P&R vice president of sales and marketing. Its unique feature is the inclusion of in-depth doctrinal articles by respected scholars like RC Sproul and Sinclair Ferguson, along with 80,000 cross-references; 20,000 study notes; a 14,500-entry concordance; 96 key faith and doctrine topics in sidebars; 19 in-text maps; 12 in-text charts; 8 full color maps; and a Yearly Bible Reading Plan. Previous editions in genuine leather are also still available and will now feature viewing holes in the box.

The Reformation Study Bible,” Thompson says, “is ideal for the reader who wants to study the Bible more systematically and in-depth. Many study Bibles give the appearance of being comprehensive but they lack precision, or genuine help, in coming to conclusions about the text of the Bible. The team behind the RSB doesn’t do that—and in addition gives you more discussion in sidebars about Christian doctrines than other study Bibles using the ESV text. We are so pleased that we are able to develop this study Bible as it represents the best value-for-money on the market and the best study help for the reader.”

John Piper says, “I would like every English-speaking Christian to own and use The Reformation Study Bible. No study notes are infallible, only the Bible is, but I know of no study Bible that comes closer to the truth than this one.”

Mark Dever adds, “I know of no higher endorsement to give than to say that I rarely preach without first reading the study notes.”

Al Mohler calls The Reformation Study Bible “a milestone in evangelical publishing…written by some of the most faithful and insightful evangelical scholars of our times.”

Philip Graham Ryken describes the work as “the perfect combination,” and continues, “The notes provide the most reliable and helpful commentary in print today...This is the gold standard for study Bibles...”
