Strategic Responsibility:

Works as part of the Learning Resources Group’s Acquisitions & Alliances team to seek out and create partnerships with communicators, to develop, acquire or partner on resources/product lines that equip the global church, with an emphasis on curriculum and group-formatted resources.  Participation in these acquisitions and alliance efforts aids in achieving the revenue and impact goals each year.  Works alongside creative, sales and marketing team members in the strategy development for taking the content to the church and marketplace.

Job Description:

Works as part of the acquisitions team to seek out content/products/alliances from/with communicators and/or ministries that can partner with DCC. Acquires titles that fit within the mission and scope of DCC.

Regularly presents projects and authors for acquisition decisions, along with other team members.

Ensures the highest quality interactions with authors/communicators as we shepherd the development of the content. In coordination with other team members, maintains and develops relationships with existing and potential authors/communicators who are partnering with David C Cook.

Actively and regularly participates in a team that develops “big idea” projects and aggressively makes compelling presentations to the Learning Resources Group’s leadership team for consideration.

Responsible to work as part of the team to develop a P&L for each project, including advance and royalty rate levels, then negotiate deal points and initiate contract with DCC’s internal contracts manager.

Work with the project team to create and develop product packets for each project to assist sales and marketing.

Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing English, Journalism or related field preferred.

Experience: 5-10 years of experience of acquisition and/or business development in the publishing industry.

Specialized Knowledge/Certification: Business development and author/product acquisitions

Equipment Knowledge: Standard office equipment
