Under the general supervision of the Associate Publisher, provides professional leadership and operational direction for the Marketing Department at Moody Publishers. Responsible for coordinating the team that owns campaigns (which build on each other and on the work of other team members), engaging teammates, delighting authors, more books in the hands of readers, more data for Publishing Board decisions, and our audience-centered publishing calendar.

 

Specifically, directs the overall marketing efforts of the team, creates new marketing strategies that will serve and grow our readership, and is a co-laborer in the Moody Publishers Launch System for new products and existing brands. Oversees the revenues, profits, and the reach of our product line. Performance measurements include top and bottom line revenue, growing readership database, and measurable development of reader engagement from strangers to friends to ambassadors.

  • Supervise managers and staff, oversee development and control of annual marketing budget, and prioritize all available promotional channels into the most effective source mix for each product.
  • Work in concert with the Sales Director in order to launch products successfully and combine the efforts of the marketing and sales teams to greatest effect.
  • Work closely with Editorial Director and Acquisitions Editors to identify reader needs and requirements — topics, timing, price points, and packaging.
  • Contribute to the development of all products and services, oversee the marketing efforts of all new product launches, and serve as marketing liaison between company and publishing partners.
  • Increase existing channel saturation and the development of new channels through targeted marketing efforts.
  • Measure and manage all promotional investments to meet or exceed front- and back-list sales forecasts and meet or exceed top and bottom line revenue goals.
  • Monitor and assess reader engagement and digital communication trends.
  • Work with Moody Bible Institute’s Marketing and Technical teams to support smooth and uninterrupted communications with readers, influencers, and channels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in marketing, sales, audience-development, or related.
  • 10 years of experience in sales and/or marketing management and consumer-facing engagement.
  • Committed to Moody Publishers vision and mission..
  • Strong interpersonal skills—networking abilities to engage audiences.
  • Strong project-management skills.
  • Creative thinker with a drive to know, love, and serve readers well.
  • Strong communication and business writing skills; digitally savvy with outstanding computer skills and digital marketing analytics (Microsoft Office, Google Analytics, SEO, Social Media Analytics, etc.).
  • Proactive and results-driven. Understands the value of and how to measure and analyze data.
  • Able to work in the US legally without sponsorship

  • Proven understanding of audience identification and engagement.
  • Flexible and trusted team member who works effectively in a collaborative setting.
  • Able to develop and manage revenue and financial budgets.
  • Familiarity with CRM and eCommerce practices.
  • Entrepreneurial thinker with an intuitive grasp of what will resonate with readers.
  • Organized individual with self-starting capabilities, able to prioritize a task list.
  • Strong understanding of the Publishing process

Work Environment/Conditions

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, tablets, phones, photocopiers, and paper filing.
  • Some U.S. travel will be required for this position.
