Five new releases from four different publishers populate ECPA’s Top 50 bestselling books for September 2018, reflecting POS data for August as compiled by NPD BookScan and curated by Cindy Carter. Unshakable Hope (Thomas Nelson) by Max Lucado is the highest debut book at #4, with Love Life Again (David C Cook) by popular Proverbs 31 speaker Tracie Miles also cracking the Top 10 at #9.

Coming in at #25 is the new release, Imperfect Courage (WaterBrook) by Jessie Honegger. Jessie is the founder of Noonday Collective, a fair-trade jewelry company that partners with artisans across the globe, empowering women from a wide variety of communities. We’re seeing more books by Christian women in business who are building nationally-known companies with popular services and products that help women. The biggest book in this emerging category is Girl Wash Your Face (Thomas Nelson) by Rachel Hollis, the #1 book on our list for the second month in a row and the undisputed #1 book in the nation. Rachel’s book comes from her wildly popular lifestyle brand, Chic Site.

The two remaining new titles in the Top 50 are by pastors. Desired by God (Thomas Nelson) by Van Moody who pastors Worship Center in Birmingham debuts at #28. And Hope in the Dark (Zondervan) by Craig Groeschel is at #34. Groeschel is the founding pastor of Life.Church in Oklahoma City, a multi-site church that has spawned, among other innovations, the YouVersion Bible app.

Seven nationally-known authors have multiple titles in the Top 50: Gary Chapman, Chip Gaines, Bob Goff, Max Lucado, Thom Rainer, Lysa Terkheurst, and Sarah Young.

Six authors have multiple titles on the Top 25 bestselling fiction list, but one name stands out this month: Wanda Brunstetter. First of all, Brunstetter has two new titles in the Top 25, including the #1 book this month, The Hope Jar (Barbour). Her other new release, The Daughters of Lancaster County (Barbour) is at #8. In addition, there are two other Brunstetter titles in the Top 25. This showing of four books in the Top 25 is impressive, but not surprising. Wanda Brunstetter has written nearly 90 books with more than 10 million books sold.

Amy Clipston (Zondervan) has two new titles in the Top 25 fiction list: A Place of Peace at #6 and The Courtship Basket at #23. Beth Wiseman (Zondervan), Francine Rivers (Tyndale), and Karen Kingsbury (Howard) all have three books in the Top 25, while Jonathan Cahn (Frontline/Charisma) has two.

The #1 book on the Top 25 bestselling juvenile list is the new release, Fiona the Hippo (Zonderkidz) by New York Times bestselling author Richard Cowdrey. Cowdrey came to fame with the international bestselling book, Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog. Priscilla Shirer’s new children’s book, The Winter War (B&H Publishing Group), debuts at #7.

Finally, it’s worth noting that in the Top 25 bestselling books Under $5 category, the new release Berenstain Bears Stand Up to Bullying by Mike Berenstain (Zonderkidz) is at #6.
