A Message from Stan Jantz, ECPA President and CEO

As your Association, our mandate is simple: to help our Christian publishing community be informed so that they can make decisions to stay ahead of the curve. We have set up this Resource Center so you can discover what your fellow member publishers and industry service providers are doing to cope with the unusual circumstances around us.

This page will include resources, news, and updates from members that can help inform your business decisions in these coming days.  The more we can learn from each other, the stronger the Christian publishing industry will become.

Let us be encouragers to one another as well. Undergirding all of our efforts is something that can’t be measured, and that’s prayer. We are unified by our common mission to make the Christian message more widely known, so let us pray for all that goes into that mission. Let’s pray for everyone’s health and safety. Let’s pray for the economic well-being of our industry. And most of all, let’s pray that we as leaders in the business and ministry of Christian publishing will continue to seek God and trust His plan for us through all of this.

Paul’s words to the church in Galatia seem especially fitting for us today:  So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. (Galatians 6:9-10. NLT)

Now’s the time to support this important channel by shopping online from your favorite Christian retailer!


From Ray Hendrickson, President & CEO, Christianbook: 
 As of March 26, we affirm our continuing operations in our unique role in support of the Christian community. Christianbook remains committed to deliver Christian products to customers, and to provide the best possible services for customers and publisher suppliers through the COVID-19 crisis.  On Monday, the Governor of Massachusetts issued an Emergency Order closing all non-essential businesses from Tuesday March 24th at noon until Tuesday April 7th at noon. Christianbook’s services, including the providing of services that enable logistics operations, storing, packaging and distributing products for wholesale or retail use, are exceptions to the directives issued by the Governor. Further, Christianbook supports programs providing distance learning at various age and grade levels, other essential student support functions, and the services of workers at houses of worship. These and other exceptions allow Christianbook to remain open and shipping Bibles, Christian books and related Christian products to our customers. In support of these essential services, Christianbook is also purchasing and receiving inventory from publishers.  In view of the serious nature of COVID-19, all employees who can work from home have been doing so for at least a week. Christianbook has also instituted social distancing protocols for workers in accordance with guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Health. In addition, numerous sanitary and other precautions are being taken throughout the warehouse and office space. Until further notice, no on-site customer pick-ups of orders are permitted.  We will continue to serve, but more importantly, we will remain in prayer for our world, our governmental leaders, customers, suppliers, and the houses of worship we are privileged to support.

From Sue Brewer, COO, The Munce Group: 
The Munce Group stores, as well as other independent Christian bookstores, are being very creative during this time. They are using social media to stay in touch with their customers, bringing them hope and encouragement through God’s promises. They are offering curbside delivery and home delivery, plus mailing product to consumers. With Amazon now prioritizing necessity-only items, this creates a great opportunity for them, even though this will not make up the lost sales over the past few weeks. Most of our stores do have an online presence, but they would prefer to sell from their physical stores.  If publishers are providing resources for consumers, please let us know. We are keeping our stores informed about these specials so they can notify their customers via email, social media, etc. The Munce Group is also keeping the stores informed about what the government has to offer small businesses for both during and after this time.
